UCL Crime, Safety & Transport Group

We are a UCL-wide research group that meets monthly to discuss topics relating to crime, safety, and transport, work on collaborative projects and papers, and organise events.

Members include academics and students from a wide range of UCL departments including Civil Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, Security and Crime Science, Computer Science and Geography, as well as practitioners from Transport for London.

We aim to research and develop solutions to tackle current and future challenges relating to crime, safety, and security in relation to transport environments.

Current topics include:

  • Fear of crime on transport
  • Alternative ways to measure risk of crime in transport settings
  • Metal theft on the railway network

  • Spatial analysis of transport-related crime

Publications:

  • Academic - Practitioner Round Table session on the topic of crime and transport held at the 2014 international crime science conference.
