This team is responsible for the oversight, progress and facilitation of strategic initiatives prioritised in the UCL Education Strategy, through working with staff, innovation, data and insights.

I am responsible for the progress of the programme of strategic initiatives that will enable us to deliver the commitments made in our Education Strategy. 

I work in close collaboration with OVPESA colleagues, staff and departments across UCL to facilitate informed change and project progress.  

I worked at City, University of London and at a number of institutions as an independent consultant before moving to UCL.

I oversee strategic engagement at UCL and manage a portfolio of projects that will support the delivery of our Education Strategy. 

I am responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with UCL departments, institutes and centres, and managing the follow-up activity to UCL’s Annual Student Experience Review (ASER) in particular. 

I also lead on OVPESA’s obligations to UCL’s Internal Quality Review (IQR) process.

I joined UCL in 2013 and have worked for the Institute of Ophthalmology, the GOS Institute of Child Health, and Institute for Global Health.

Rebecca Allen is currently on a secondment.

As Head of Data and Insight for Education, I analyse, visualise and report on data related to education and the student experience at UCL.

This includes taught student award and progression data, attainment data, student experience and student surveys, strategic education metrics and other education-related projects. These help to inform decision-making, policy and strategy development, and aim to empower faculties and departments to make better decisions based on reliable data.

I am also co-lead of UCL’s Data and Insight Community of Practice.

I manage the various institution-wide student surveys, including:

I analyse and report on the results and provide guidance on good survey practice. 

This information is used to inform the enhancement of the student experience at UCL and feeds into policy and strategy development.

I contribute to project coordination and general administration to support the delivery of our Education Strategy.

I am responsible for maintaining relationships with relevant UCL departments, institutes and centres, UCL and sector research, monitoring project timelines and budgets, developing reporting and evaluation mechanisms, and maintaining sets of data and other records which support projects.

I joined UCL in 2018 and have worked in the Institute for Global Health and Institute of Education. Previously I worked at the University of Denver and Endicott College in the United States and Trinity College Dublin in Ireland.

I work on a variety of education-related projects on behalf of the Office of the Vice-Provost (Education and Student Affairs).  

I manage the Laidlaw Research and Leadership Programme at UCL. The Academic Director is Dr Ruth Siddall.

Other projects I've been involved in include:

  • The 2015 Graduate Support Scheme
  • Various teaching space related initiatives including reviews of electronic timetabling software and new teaching space furniture.

I provide academic leadership for UCL's Global Citizenship Programme and promote Global Citizenship across UCL's activities. 

I am a Lecturer in Education in UCL Institute of Education and Associate Director of the Institute of Education's Development Education Research Centre (DERC), which carries out research into Global Citizenship.  

I'm also editor of the International Journal of Development Education and Global Learning, which features research into Global Citizenship from around the world.

Introductory Programme Manager

I work as a consultant to UCL, managing the development of the UCL Introductory Programme - a programme of study and orientation for students to undertake prior to their arrival at UCL.

Prior to becoming a consultant, I worked as the Head of Academic Support Projects in the VP Education office. Projects included the Introductory Programme and Personal Tutoring.  

Before joining UCL, I worked as Head of Curriculum Management in the Science Faculty at the Open University.

I currently manage two programmes which sit within the OVPESA.  Firstly, the Global Citizenship Programme (GCP), which brings together students from across UCL to explore global challenges.

I also work alongside the Introductory Programme Manager, Viki Burnage, to deliver The UCL Introductory Programme. The UCL Introductory Programme will introduce students to the people and places of UCL, from past, present and future.
