Next Advice Sessions: 2 June 2021

STS holds Advice Sessions to meet potential applicants and teachers regarding admissions to our degree programmes. These sessions are held online and include a set of presentations from STS tutors and members of our admissions team. This is an opportunity to learn more about the degrees we offer, meet some of the tutors, ask about our application process, and discuss career possibilities. Our advice session with be 60 minutes in length. This session is free of charge. Registration is required.

Special Feature for June 2021: “Sociology and Politics of Researching COVID-19”

When responding to COVID-19, politicians say they are “guided by the science”. It’s always more complicated than that. Every decision made about COVID-19 has involved complex interactions between sociology, politics, ethics, risk assessment, and many more subjects that are far beyond medicine and viruses. This Virtual Open Day gives you an opportunity to learn about “Sociology and Politics of Science BSc,” an important BSc degree offered by UCL Department of Science and Technology Studies (STS). Our degree is designed to develop your expertise in interdisciplinary interactions across a wide range of subjects in science, technology, environment, and medicine. Our degree aims to train people for careers involving science policy and government, science communication and journalism, ethics, science in business, campaigning, social justice, and more.

Programme

Our Advice Session with be 60 minutes in length. The programme features:

  1. presentation from a member of our teaching staff about the Sociology and Politics of Researching COVID-19
  2. presentation from our BSc admissions tutor about the degree and related options, such as a year studying abroad
  3. advice on careers closely associated with this degree
  4. opportunities for you to ask about studying with us and studying at UCL

The degrees discussed will be:

  1. Sociology and Politics of Science BSc with Honours (UCAS U80 L391)
  2. Sociology and Politics of Science with Study Abroad BSc with Honours (UCAS U80 L392)

We also will be happy to discuss our other degrees, such as History and Philosophy of Science BSc. 

At the Advice Session, you’ll have a chance to discuss your questions with members of the STS teaching staff and STS admissions team, including:
