Information and FAQs for offer holders at UCL SSEES.
Accepting your offer
Most applicants will have until 18 June 2020 to accept an offer via UCAS.
If you applied late, or via UCAS Extra, your UCAS Track will advise when your deadline is to make your decision.
Meeting your conditions
If you have been made a conditional offer, we wish you well in meeting our entry requirements.
The current circumstances have meant changes to final assessments for many of our offer holders and we appreciate the difficult siutation many students find themselves in. UCL is working to ensure applicants are treated as fairly as possible and you can find the latest guidance on the Coronavirus pages.
We cannot guarantee admission to anyone who hasn't fully met the offer given. As soon as you have your results, these must be uploaded on Portico, if requested, or if taking IB or A level, these are usually sent automatically to us via UCAS. We require all results to reach us by 31 August 2020.
Next Steps
Once your place has been confirmed, you'll start to receive information about enrolment from across UCL, including SSEES. Some guidance on what to expect and actions you need before you arrive can be accessed on the New Students' Pages.
Your Programme Administrator will write to you in late August/early September to provide information on SSEES activities for induction week, including a welcome with the SSEES Director, module registrations, programme meetings and social activities in the School.
FAQS
- Can I defer my place?
If you wish to defer your offer to the following year, a request must be made in writing to ugadmissions@ssees.ucl.ac.uk with your UCAS personal ID number and a short outline of the reason you wish to defer. We are happy to approve deferral requests, but will only allow one deferral. All offer conditions must be met within the year of application, no later than 31 August
- What if I don't meet my offer conditions- can you still accept me?
We can only confirm applicants who fully meet all offer conditions set out in the offer letter, by the deadline of 31 August. If you marginally miss out on your grades, we may be able to still consider you, but this depends if space is available on your chosen programme, and how other offer holders perform. This varies each year and we cannot comment on anyone's chances of acceptance who has missed their offer. Please make sure UCL has your full set of results available (uploaded via the portal) in order to make the decision, which will be relayed on UCAS Track once available.
- Is there a Reading List for my course?
We send out Reading Lists to incoming students in the summer, once your place has been confirmed after A level results day in August. Reading lists are also posted on the SSEES website, but we strongly advise you wait to receive the email before purchasing books as changes may occur and new editions become available.
