23 May 2024
Nikita Ristovski, a History, Politics and Economics BA student at UCL's School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES), has been awarded the Annual Prize for Young Researchers by the Central Bank of Macedonia.
Ristovski’s dissertation, supervised by Professor Nauro Ferreira Campos, Professor in Economics at SSEES, focused on the economic benefits of EU accession, a topic of significant political relevance for both North Macedonia and Brussels.
The award was given on 26 April 2024, coinciding with the commemoration of North Macedonia's monetary independence. The Annual Prize for Young Researchers aims to promote young researchers and contribute to the development of research in the country in the fields of macroeconomics and banking. Ristovski's dissertation, “Integration-Driven Economic Growth: “The Case of North Macedonia’s Integration in the European Union,” earned a first class honours.
During the award ceremony, attendees, including Governor of the National Bank and Evaluation Board members Vice Governor Ana Mitreska, Director Biljana Davidovska Stojanova, and Deputy Director Gani Ramadani, emphasised the importance of supporting young researchers. The awarded papers will be presented at upcoming Research Club sessions of the national bank, which represents a centre for further development and collaboration of researchers in this field.
Congratulations to Nikita Ristovski from all at UCL SSEES on this remarkable achievement.
