Last year, five SSEES students from a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were selected as Young European Ambassadors for the EU Neighbours East initiative. We are delighted to announce that we have had more UCL SSEES Students selected this year as part of this initiative.

Two of our students have been re-selected and had their mandates renewed for another year:

  • Freya Proudman (1st year PhD Student) representing the United Kingdom, mandate renewed for the 3rd year in this position
  • Anna Romanovská (MRes in East European Studies, graduated 2023) representing Czechia, mandate renewed for the 2nd year in this position

In addition, two more SSEES Students will be joining the EU NEIGHBOURS East initiative this year:

  • Artur Podsokha (2nd year Politics & Sociology Student) representing Ukraine
  • Mariam Vekua (2nd year History, Politics & Sociology Student) representing Georgia

The Young European Ambassadors form a non-political, voluntary, vibrant communication network connecting and building bridges of friendship among young people from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and the EU Member States and the United Kingdom. The aim of the network is to raise awareness about the EU’s cooperation with its Eastern partner countries.

Congratulations to our students!
