From the UCL SSEES Library Archives
The UCL SSEES Library and its Archives are holding a wealth of materials – rare books, letters, post-cards, newspaper clippings, photo albums, cartes de visite, maps etc. – many of which were collected by East European scholars, diplomats and professionals, some of whom took up posts at SSEES or served in the diplomatic services in Britain.
Below, you can sample a selection of these exciting and beautiful collections by browsing the names of those East Europeans and travellers* to Eastern Europe who left their mark in the Library’s Archive Collections. The images and maps are showcasing the Library's rich Digital Collections, where many fascinating travel books, maps and photo albums of the region can be explored.
*The dates that follow the names are dates of collection and not of birth and death.
