This two-day CPD course will give you an introduction to contemporary canals preparation and obturation techniques.
You'll gain an understanding of the limitations of each technique, enabling you to plan endodontic procedures effectively. This will help reduce levels of operator stress while optimising the technical standard of your root fillings.
You'll be able to apply your knowledge to correctly select those endodontic cases where you can use preparation and obturation techniques.
The combination of seminars, demonstrations and hands-on preparation will help you incorporate ideas and techniques into your everyday practice.
The course is run by the UCL Eastman Dental Institute in London which has a broad range of continuing professional development (CPD) short courses. These provide hands-on training from experienced staff in dedicated facilities.
By the end of day 1 you'll have an understanding of following:
- Case pre-selection
- Hand instrumentation using the Step Down technique
- The application of a simplified single instrument technique
- The application of ProTaper Next™
- How to use the X-Smart™ Plus Endodontic Motor
By the end of day 2 you'll have an understanding of the following:
- The cold lateral compaction technique (advantages and disadvantages, and customising the master cone)
- Heated techniques (intra-canal, extra-canal and thermoplastic), including pre-coated carrier techniques: advantages and drawbacks
- The availability of various sealers and their characteristics
- GP and resin-based obturation
- Post-hole preparation
- Hands-on obturation using the Calamus System and GuttaCore techniques

"[There was] masses of information, loads of papers to back up statements, and a good amount of repetition to make sure the knowledge was clear. Excellent!"
