The UCL-GREAT Scholarships 2023 are jointly funded by UCL and the British Council to provide financial support to citizens of India, Mexico, Thailand, Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia, Nigeria and Vietnam.
Eligibility
Candidates must be citizens of India, Mexico, Thailand, Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia, Nigeria or Vietnam.
Candidates must have made an application to study a full-time Master's degree at UCL in 2023/24, and hold an offer of a place at UCL by the scholarship closing date of 23rd May 2023. Please note distance learning and mod flex courses are not eligible.
Value, benefits, and duration
- There are 4 scholarships available in 2023/24
- The value of the scholarship is £10,000
- The scholarship will be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees
- Award recipients are obliged to inform the UCL Student Funding Office immediately of any other funding they are awarded towards their UCL Master’s degree studies, before or subsequent to the UCL – GREAT scholarship. The GREAT Scholarship must be used to pay your tuition fees.

You need to have submitted an admission application to UCL in order to apply for the scholarship.

Instructions for accessing the online scholarship application form:
- Login to Portico with your normal details.
- Click on the ‘View’ button for the ‘Active Application’ that you wish to apply for funding for.
- In the application screen, click on the ‘Funding’ in the menu at the top of the page.
- You are now on the funding page. To find out which funds you are eligible to apply for click 'Check and apply' under ‘Funds Available’.
- Click on the scholarship name of the scheme that you wish to apply for.
NB. For each programme that you wish to apply for funding for, you will need to submit a separate scholarship application form.
The deadline to apply will be 5pm BST, Tuesday 23 May 2023

Results
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted early/ mid June to provide evidence of financial need. When this has been assessed, successful candidates will be informed at the beginning of July.
