UCL Scholarships and funding


GREAT Scholarship

The UCL-GREAT Scholarships 2023 are jointly funded by UCL and the British Council. To provide financial support to citizens of India, Mexico, Thailand, Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia, Nigeria and Vietnam.

Value: £10,000 (one year only)
Available to: Prospective students
Selection criteria: Academic excellence and financial need
Eligible fee status: Overseas (India, Mexico, Thailand, Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia, Nigeria and Vietnam)
Eligible programmes: Postgraduate taught



Candidates must be citizens of India, Mexico, Thailand, Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Vietnam.

Have made an application to study a full-time Master's degree at UCL in 2023/24. Note by the closing date of 23rd May 2023 you will need hold an offer of a place at UCL.

Value, benefits, and duration

  • There are 4 scholarships available in 2023/24.
  • The value of the scholarship is £10,000
  • The scholarship will be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees
  • Award recipients are obliged to inform the UCL Student Funding Office immediately of any other funding they are awarded towards their UCL Master’s degree studies, before or subsequent to the UCL – GREAT scholarship. The GREAT Scholarship must be used to pay your tuition fees.

How to apply

You need to have submitted an admission application to UCL in order to apply for the scholarship.

Scholarship applications will open in January 2023

The deadline to apply is 5pm BST, Tuesday 23 May 2023

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted early/ mid June to provide evidence of financial need. When this has been assessed, successful candidates will be informed at the beginning of July.
