UCL MPH Sponsors Presentation Prizes recognising Lived Experience at Conference

 In November, the UCL Master of Public Health (MPH) sponsored two prizes at the Lancet Public Health Science Conference, recognising outstanding presentations that incorporated the perspectives of those who have directly faced health challenges. 

Congratulations to the recipients of the UCL MPH Lived Experience Oral Presentation Prizes: 

• Dr Floor Christie- de Jong, Associate Professor in Public Health for Medicine, University of Sunderland (oral presentation prize) 
• Dr Kerrie Stevenson, Public Health Doctor & NIHR Doctoral Fellow, UCL with lived experience experts Kemi Ogunlana and Rukayat Popoola (poster presentation prize) 

Additionally, in a session at the conference, Serena Luchenski, MPH Co-Director, presented her research on hospital admissions for people experiencing homelessness in England at the conference. Her work delves into the intricacies of admissions for both physical health issues and psychosocial adversity. 

The involvement of citizens with lived experience is one of six unique core themes underpinning the UCL Master of Public Health (MPH), which reflects a broader shift in the field towards a more inclusive approach to health and social care. The prizes were co-judged by Stan Burridge, Director of Expert Focus, who is the MPH’s main involvement partner. Expert Focus, a company leading involvement work with homeless and marginalised communities
