23 November 2023

Jennifer

Jennifer Uchendu, an MPH student and recipient of the Impact Scholarship, has recently been recognised among the BBC's prestigious lineup of 100 inspiring and influential women worldwide for 2023.

Acknowledged for her advocacy in mental health, Jennifer is the driving force behind SustyVibes, a youth-driven organisation dedicated to making sustainability practical, relatable, and appealing.

Her recent endeavors have centered on delving into how the climate crisis impacts the mental well-being of Africans, particularly the younger demographic.

In 2022, she established The Eco-Anxiety Africa project (TEAP) with a focus on validating and safeguarding the emotional responses to climate change in Africans through extensive research, advocacy efforts, and climate-conscious psychotherapy. Her vision entails collaborating with individuals and institutions keen on reshaping perspectives and engaging in the often challenging task of understanding climate-related emotions.

Among the select group of 100 outstanding women, Jennifer shares the list with notable figures such as former US First Lady Michelle Obama, human rights advocate Amal Clooney, Ballon d'Or-winning footballer Aitana Bonmatí, AI specialist Timnit Gebru, feminist icon Gloria Steinem, Hollywood luminary America Ferrera, and beauty entrepreneur Huda Kattan.
