24 April 2023

Three minutes to inspire – share your research story and make a difference.

The UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences is inviting students and staff from across the faculty to make a short video to showcase the impact of their research through an exciting new 3-Minute Video competition led by Dr Claire Smith, Associate Professor at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.

Why take part?

Communicating the findings of your research is a key part of an academic endeavour and video enables you to get creative in a way that you can't be in a written thesis, poster presentation, or formal talk.

Whether you’re an early career researcher, a PhD student or a master’s student, this is a great opportunity to communicate your research to the wider public via a short 2–3-minute video in a compelling way.

We’ll be awarding three prizes of £200 in vouchers for ‘Best Researcher Video’, ‘Best Student Video’ and the ‘People’s Choice Video’, which will see members of the public vote for their favourite video.

How do I get started?

Don’t worry if you are a complete beginner, we are offering a series of training workshops from May-July for anyone interested in learning about creating videos of their work to help you through the process from start to finish. The first workshop begins on Wednesday 3 May.
