Professor Nora Colton appointed new Director of UCL Global Business School for Health

3 December 2020

The UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences has appointed Professor Nora Colton to the post of Inaugural Director of UCL’s Global Business School for Health.

Professor Nora Colton

The Global Business School for Health's (GBSH) guiding principle is to deliver the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal of Universal Health Coverage worldwide with effective, quality and affordable health services.

Based at UCL East, the new School aims to support improvements in health system decision-making at clinical, operational, strategic and policy levels. It will equip leading professionals globally with the necessary skills to meet these challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the urgent need to address fundamental weaknesses in health systems worldwide – while learning from the best examples.

Professor Colton has significant senior leadership experience, most recently as UCL’s Pro-Vice-Provost for Postgraduate Education and as Joint Director of Education at the Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital. She has an academic background as a development economist, and prior to joining UCL was Dean of the Royal Docks Business School and Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of East London.

Professor Graham Hart, Dean of the UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences comments: "We are excited that Nora – with her depth of expertise and experience – has agreed to take on the role of Inaugural Director from January 2021. We look forward to GBSH’s future success under her guidance."
