Research Excellence Framework (REF2014) results

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) results were released on 18th December 2014, which determine our level of funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England for the next few years.
As assessed in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) the physics subject area at UCL covers the Department of Physics and Astronomy, the Mullard Space Science Laboratory and much of the London Centre for Nanotechnology.
All our eligible staff were submitted to the REF exercise, a total of 110 full-time equivalent staff.
We are delighted to be ranked amongst the strongest physics departments. Based on the amount of world-leading (4*) work going on here, we are 4th in the UK.
