Congratulations to the UCL PALS Green Impact team who have been recognised as UCL’s greenest department at UCL's annual Sustainability Awards Ceremony for a 7th consecutive year.
17 July 2020
UCL’s Division of Psychology and Language Sciences had 20 sustainability excellence projects, and picked up gold in the Green Impact Award categories and LEAF lab awards at this year’s virtual ceremony.
The awards celebrate the achievements of staff and students across UCL who are making a real contribution to the University’s sustainability agenda by taking part in Green Impact, UCL’s Sustainability Engagement Programme.
PALS was awarded the top prize due to their outstanding contribution to sustainability and a commitment to improving the environmental impact of the UCL buildings and laboratories in which it operates; building a community; and implementing initiatives around sustainability within various areas of the department.
John Draper PALS Divisional Manager said: “I am thrilled our department has been again recognised for our continued mission and commitment to improving the environmental impact of UCL’s estate.
“The award win is a testament to the hard work undertaken by all staff within the Division who took part in our green impact initiatives over the past year.”
Faculty Dean Professor Alan Thompson said: “On behalf of the Faculty I’d like to congratulate everyone in PALS for leading the university in reducing our carbon footprint.
“It is hugely inspiring to see the level of commitment our staff have to improving the environmental impact on our campus, as well as the innovative programmes in place to protect the future of our estates.”
The Division of Psychiatry, Institute of Ophthalmology and Queen Square Institute of Neurology also picked up awards for their participation in Green Impact and LEAF, UCL’s sustainability behaviour change programmes.
