30 June 2022

A free community service for Camden residents struggling with their mental health is now available – find out how to access it if you’re eligible.

Signposts

The Camden Crisis Sanctuary is a free, walk-in community service for residents of the London Borough of Camden and those who are registered to a GP in Camden.

The sanctuary is a walk-in service which means that no referral is required to access its services. You can drop in to their sessions anytime between 5pm -11pm (last drop-in time for admission is 10:30pm), 7 days a week, 365 days a year. However, if you would prefer an online appointment, you can call anytime and they should get back to you within one week.

Contact details:

As well as offering assistance with more serious mental health interventions, the sanctuary offers a safe space for casual conversation as a drop in, workshops with 121 support and a more casual space to get to know others.

Please note, that the service does not offer professional counselling, so if you feel the need to access talking therapy, we recommend that you contact your GP in the first instance (more information about this is below).

We know that many students, and international students in particular, can struggle with feelings of loneliness and isolation. If you are in need of assistance, or you know of a friend or a student who is, please do not hesitate to use or recommend this service.

Registering with a GP

We recommend that all students at UCL register with a General Practitioner (GP), which enables you to access medical care if you need it. You can find more information on the Student Support and Wellbeing website.

Please do also take a look at our dedicated student welfare page which covers the broader issues touched on in this piece and will provide more comprehensive answers to any student welfare questions you may have.
