Special Interest Group in Neuroscience and Mental Health

Our Aims

The UCL IoMH Special Interest Group in Neuroscience and Mental Health is an interdisciplinary group bringing together members of the UCL research community to promote a better understanding of the biology of mental health dysfunction to ultimately develop new treatments.

This group aims to foster and strengthen collaborations between 'applied mental health and the fields of genetics, animal models, biochemistry, health informatics, and aspects of physical health.

The first Neuroscience and Mental Health SIG meeting was in November 2021 under the theme 'Mechanistic Insights into Mental Health Dysfunction'. This event brought together the perspectives of neuroscientists and applied mental health researchers. Speakers showcased examples of neuroscience-based approaches that have shed light on the biology of mental disorders and discussed important questions and evidence gaps in the mechanistic understanding of mental health dysfunction.
