UCL MBBS student helps deliver a baby at Warren Street station

21 January 2019

First year UCL medical student Hamzah Selim helped deliver a baby at Warren Street tube station. He responded to the cries of the mother, who had gone into labour, and called upon his medical training to assist.

Hamzah commented:

"I just saw someone that needed help, and though I was scared, did my best to help her. I would like to mention that I’ve been on a terrific neonatal student selected component module over the past couple months, which did come in handy in this situation! Really this is a testament to UCL’s great teaching and I am humbled to be a part of this university."

Professor Deborah Gill, UCL Medical School Director said:

"Hamzah is a credit to us and embodies the spirit of the sort of people we chose to be UCL Doctors"
