UCL Medical Image Computing Summer School (MedICSS)

Monday 3 – Friday 7 July 2023, hosted at UCL (London)

The 9th UCL MedICSS summer school is fast approaching!

MedICSS 2023 will allow early-career scientists and students to learn about the newest developments in medical image computing through a series of lectures from world-leading expert speakers and hands-on computational projects.

The full scientific content of MedICSS 2023 will be delivered in-person (i.e. lectures and projects). An online package option will be available for access to the recorded lectures only (for a time-limit). We have planned complementary in-person social events for registered delegates London, including a research poster session.

Details on the full programme coming soon!

Medical image computing is a core research theme at University College London (UCL) with internationally recognised activities crossing multiple centres, institutes and departments. Our long-standing focus on medical imaging and devices, data science, artificial intelligence and robotics was recognised with a recent EPSRC-award for a Centre for Doctoral Training in Intelligent, Integrated Imaging In Healthcare. Through the CDT and with allied academic staff, projects at UCL cover a wide variety of imaging modalities, devices, theories and applications.

MedICSS 2023 will allow early career scientists to engage with world-leading medical imaging experts from academia and industry. Delegates will learn about the newest developments across the field through a series of lectures by scientific leaders, and will engage in active learning through interactive computational group projects encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, and scientific discovery.

We will invite applications to MedICSS 2023 from enthusiastic doctoral students and researchers who wish to take advantage of this exciting opportunity to learn about the latest medical image computing research taking place at CMIC, WEISS, UCL, and beyond.

MedICSS is supported by the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) and the five day course covers different topics including: Acquisition/Reconstruction, Image guided interventions, Image processing and analysis and Modelling & Machine learning.

There practical and interactive sessions throughout the week will be used to encourage communication and hands on learning.  These will include a poster session and a hands-on mini project.
