Professor Mohan Edirisinghe awarded an OBE for services to biomedical engineering

He is Bonfield Chair of Biomaterials at UCL and is both a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering in the UK and a Fellow of The European Academy of Sciences.

Professor Mohan Edirisinghe (UCL Mechanical Engineering) has been awarded an OBE for services to biomedical engineering.

He is Bonfield Chair of Biomaterials at UCL and is both a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering in the UK and a Fellow of The European Academy of Sciences.

On receiving his honour, Professor Edirisinghe said: “I am indebted to UCL and in particular to UCL Mechanical Engineering from where I have been able to rapidly propagate my research on healthcare and manufacturing internationally to a wide interdisciplinary audience. This has enabled me to get this honour.”

Professor Edirisinghe is one of many UCL staff and alumni recognised in the 2021 New Year’s Honours. UCL Mechanical Engineering alumna Professor Eleanor Stride (Institute of Biomedical Engineering) was also awarded an OBE for services to engineering.
