The Faculty of Life Sciences is ranked 12th globally for biosciences research (Times/World Rankings 2021), and is rated 8th globally for life sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022).

Our research spans an incredible breadth of scientific areas; from fundamental research into the origins of life and evolutionary genetics through structural, molecular and cell biology, developmental biology and neuroscience to ecology and biodiversity. 

We are part of the School of Life and Medical Sciences which brings together four Faculties to create one of the largest and most prestigious groups of academics in biomedical, life and population health sciences worldwide.
