Narrative description of a trip to the South of Russia chiefly detailing visits to members of the Society of Friends (Quakers) and other religious organisations. Robson and Harvey first travelled to Minden in Germany, accompanied by Wilhelm Beck; then went on to Stuttgart, Ulm, Donauwörth, and along the Danube to Pest, before journeying to Odessa.

During their stay in the Crimea they visited German settlements and religious communities, including the Mennonites. Robson and Harvey finally travelled on to Constantinople (Istanbul) by merchant steamer and returned to London via Venice and Padua.
