Special Collections, Archives & Exhibitions
UCL Library Special Collections is one of the foremost university collections of manuscripts, archives and rare books in the UK. It includes fine collections of medieval manuscripts and early printed books, notably from the C.K. Ogden Collection and Graves Library, as well as significant holdings of 18th century works, and highly important 19th and 20th century collections of personal papers, archival material, and literature, covering a vast range of subject areas, notably Latin American archives, Jewish collections and the George Orwell Archive.
There are also archives located at several of our specialist libraries, related to the department, school, research institute or associated hospital, while documents concerning UCL’s history are also held by the Records Office.
UCL Library Services has extensive archives including rare books, manuscripts, personal papers and artefacts across a range of subjects. Each year there are themed exhibitions in the Main Library that draw on highlights from UCL Special Collections and there are both temporary and permanent exhibitions at other locations too.
