Store Request Form for UCL users

Store request form for UCL Students, staff and affiliates.

The service delivers Store items every working day to UCL library sites, except closure days.

What would you like to request from the Store?

A book

The easiest way to request a book from Stores is through your library account:

  1. Log in to Explore;
  2. Search for the book and click ‘Click and Collect’ next to the item record.
  3. You’ll receive an email when the book arrives at the chosen pick-up location.

If you cannot access your account, you can still request via the form below. However, because this is not linked to your account, you will not receive an email when it arrives.

Please note – if the item does not appear on our catalogue, it is likely not held at UCL and you should consider trying to obtain the item through another library or our Interlending and Document Supply Service. You can also suggest that UCL purchases a copy.

A journal

Many journals (periodicals) are also available electronically and we encourage UCL students and staff to use material in electronic format. Please see our e-resources pages.

Recent issues of the last few years of journals are held at relevant library sites. Older issues are held at Stores but be aware our journal holdings may be incomplete.

If you still wish to request a journal check the holdings on Explore and fill in the form below with as much detail as possible. If you just need an article from a journal we hold, we can now send this direct to your UCL email address. Please select 'Send to my UCL email address' in the pick-up location list. This option is subject to copyright of one article per journal.

Journals are reference only and you will not receive an email when your journal arrives.

A thesis

The easiest way to request a thesis from Stores is through your library account:

  1. Log in to Explore;
  2. Search for the thesis and click ‘Click and Collect’ next to the item record.
  3. You’ll receive an email when the thesis arrives at the chosen pick-up location.

Stores hold a copy of most UCL PhD theses, from 1910 to the present, and a selection of Masters theses. More information on the theses held by UCL Library Services is available.

We encourage UCL students and staff to view theses in electronic format. You can search for electronic copies of UCL theses using our UCL Discovery service.

Physical copies of theses are kept under restricted access due to copyright reasons and they cannot be borrowed – they are only available for consultation during Issue Desk/Help Point opening hours.

Failure to return a thesis to the Issue Desk/Help Point on time, or removing it from the library may result in the suspension of library privileges.

If you cannot access your account, you can still request via the form below. However, because this is not linked to your account, you will not receive an email when it arrives.

Something else

The Store holds a number of DVD’s, videos and pamphlets. Visitors may request an item from filling in the form below with as much information as possible. You will not receive an item when your item arrives, only if there is a problem with your request.

Please note - if the item does not appear on our catalogue, it is likely not held at UCL and you should consider trying to obtain the item from elsewhere.

The Form

Temporary library closures

Owing to our summer 2025 works to enhance our library spaces, some of our libraries will be closed for periods across the summer and there will be no store deliveries to libraries that are closed. All other libraries will remain open and available as a pick-up location for your Store request.
