2nd Jan 1817 - 23rd Apr 1866
Robert Westley Hall-Dare (1817-1866), the son of the MP Robert Westley Hall-Dare (who died in 1836) (q.v. under 'Robert Westley Hall Dare (ne Robert Westley Hall) MP'). The awardee could have been either of the two men, father or son.
Robert Westley Hall-Dare, 1st son of Robert Westley of London matriculated Christ Church Oxford 04/06/1835 aged 18, of Fitzwalters Essex, died 23/04/1866. Will of Robert Westley Hall Dare proved 03/07/1866, effects under £35,000. His son, also Robert Westley Hall-Dare (c. 1840-1876), and also at Christ Church Oxford, of Newtonbarry House Ireland Co. Wexford, was high sheriff of Co. Wexford and then of Co. Carlow, and died 18/03/1876.
Living at Theydon Hall in Theydon Bois, Essex, in the census of 1841, age 1, of independent means; no other family members appear to be present (there were servants and labourers). Theydon Hall had been inherited through the family of his mother Elizabeth Grafton Dare. "Robert Westley Hall Dare, in 1853 obtained a private Act of Parliament authorizing the sale of parts of his estate, in order that he might settle in Ireland, his wife's country."
Robert Westley Hall-Dare (1817-1866) married Frances Catherine Anna Lambart, 2nd daughter of Gustavus Lambart of Beau Parc.
The will with a codicil of Robert Westley Hall-Dare late of Newtown Barry in the county of Wexford in Ireland Esquire deceased who died 23/04/1866 at Ticehurst in the county of Sussex was proved at the Principal Registry by the oaths of Robert Westley Hall-Dare of Newton Barry aforesaid Esquire the son and Thomas Hilton Bothamley of 39 Coleman Street in the City of London gentleman the executors. Effects under £35,000.
T71/887 British Guiana claim no. 2358 (Maria's Pleasure). The award was dated 07/02/1837, while the will of Robert Westley Hall Dare of Barking Essex, the MP, was proved 14/06/1836. Robert Westley Hall Dare apparently signed for the money at the NDO. The only reason for caution in attributing the award is that Robert Westley Hall Dare (1817-1866) would have been a young man below the conventional age of majority at the time of the award.
