Entered 25th April 1748 Frances James of the parish of Hanover in the said Island widow. Payment of just debts and funeral expenses. To my loving son Edward James, two negroe men slaves named Quaminah and Mingo and one negro woman slave named Juba with her four children named Betty, Mimbah, Quaco and Cudjoe. To my loving son Charles James, one negroe man named Peter and one negro woman named Sarah and her child named Dowis. To my loving son Richard James, one negroe man named Britton. To my loving daughter Mary Clarke, wife of William Clark, one Indian woman named Betty and one negro woman named Bess. To my loving daughter Francis Parr, widow, one negro woman named Hannah and her five children named Joan, Maria, Cuffee, Beneba and Hardy with all my neat cattle. To my said two daughters Mary Clarke and Frances Parr all my household furniture whatsoever to be equally divided between them share and share alike. The sum of forty pounds shall be paid out of my estate and laid out by my son Edward James in the purchase of a negro woman for the use and behoof of my son Richard James his heirs and assigns for ever. The sum of forty pounds shall be paid out of my estate and laid out by my son Edward James in the purchase of a negro... To my said daughter Mary Clarke a lot of land out of my parcel of land situated to the westward of Lucea Harbour in the parish of Hanover to be laid out and allotted for her by my said son Edward James and in such manner as he shall think fit and convenient. To my said daughter Frances Parr another lot of land out of the same parcel under the same terms. The same each to my grandson George James and sons Richard and Archibald James. All the rest residue and remainder of my estate real and personal to my said two sons Edward and Charles James to be equally divided between them.
