Richard James junior was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 210 acres of land in Hanover.

Richard and Iona James were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owners of 261 acres of land in St Elizabeth. Iona has not been identified and Richard could be Richard James the elder or the younger, or a different Richard James.

Richard James, junior of Hanover, planter. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1756. Slave-ownership at probate: 78 of whom 41 were listed as male and 37 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £4520.88 Jamaican currency of which £3269.7 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £9.5 currency plate.
