Biography

Allegedly 103 at death. Father of Richard James jun. who (not surprisingly) predeceased him.

Richard James was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 720 acres of land in Hanover, 180 acres in Westmoreland and 120 acres in St Elizabeth, total 1020 acres.

Richard and Iona James were listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owners of 261 acres of land in St Elizabeth. Iona has not been identified and Richard could be Richard James the elder or the younger, or a different Richard James.
