Biography

Son of William James and his wife Frances nee Rhodes. Died in May 1754.

Archbould James was listed in the Jamaican Quit Rent books for 1754 as the owner of 1749 acres of land in St James.

Archibald James of St James, planter. Estate probated in Jamaica in 1755. Slave-ownership at probate: 42 of whom 25 were listed as male and 17 as female. 0 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £2316 Jamaican currency of which £1817.5 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £0 currency plate.
