Before you start...

  • You will need a Mac connected to the UCL network via ethernet, eduroam or UCL VPN
  • Your UCL user ID and password
  • Your UCL ID card and access to a Print @ UCL device (to collect your print job)

Instructions

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners
  2. At the Printers & Scanners window highlight any old connections to Print@UCL and use the - button to remove them.
  3. At the Add Printer window, select the Advanced tab (shown as two cogs) and wait a few seconds to load

If you cannot see the Advanced tab, hold down the CTRL key, click an icon and select Customize Toolbar. Drag the Advanced icon on to the tool bar.
  4. Enter the details as below.  Please ensure you enter the printer URL exactly as shown below:

Type: Windows printer via spools (this may be displayed as Windows on older o/s)
    URL: smb://print.ucl.ac.uk/print-ucl?encryption=no
    Name: print-UCL
Use: Click the dropdown menu and select Select Software... Search for and select Xerox Altalink C8055 then click OK
  5. Select the following options when configuring the printer:

    Paper trays: 5 Trays

  7. The first time you print a document you will be prompted for a Name and Password. Enter your UCL credentials as below:

Name: your UCL userID (e.g. ucaazzz)
    Password: your UCL password
Add tick to remember this password in your keychain
