Microsoft offers a suite of online tools that can be used on any computer that is connected to the internet including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and OneDrive for Business.
Use a light version of Office via a web browser with Microsoft 365
- Go to the Microsoft 365 portal.
- Log in with your UCL userID @ ucl.ac.uk (e.g. xxxxxxx @ ucl.ac.uk) and password.
Install Office on your computer
Current UCL Staff are licensed to download the Office suite (known as Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise) at no charge. It’s compatible with PC, Mac, iOS and Android. This may be helpful if using a non-UCL computer (or smartphone or tablet) that doesn’t have Microsoft Office installed, for a sustained period of time.
Remember, you don’t have to install Office to access common Office apps, like Word and Excel – these can be used via Microsoft 365 – ideal if working on simpler documents or just for a brief period.
