Meet Andy Smith, Chief Information Officer at UCL ISD.

About Andy

I’m delighted to be responsible for the Digital agenda at UCL, working with colleagues from across the university and leading a very capable set of teams.

There is so much opportunity to help UCL work better with technology, giving our students and staff the freedom to focus on the important work that they do.

I’m passionate about how we can be a proactive partner for UCL and to encourage and support our team to feel confident in doing what is right for their users.

I joined UCL mid-pandemic in May 2020, having previously worked in industry, government and the tech sector with Arm.

Outside of work, I cling on to the memories of my athletic youth and am often seen on the Real Tennis court. I live in Cambridge with my wife Jess, two teenage daughters and two clever dogs.
