Virtual: Queen Square Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Course – A Clinical Update

The Queen Square MS Centre team have designed this course to serve as an update, accessible to both specialists and non-specialists (including trainees, GPs and allied health care professionals).

Course Dates/Times

28th October (11am to 5pm) and 29th October (9am to 4pm) 2021, via Zoom webinar.

The course has been approved by the Federation of the Royal Colleages of the United Kingdom for 9 CPD credits. 

Over the past few years there have been substantial changes in our understanding and exciting developments in the management of multiple sclerosis (MS). Many clinicians will have contact with people with MS but, with increasing diagnostic and treatment complexities, MS management may be daunting or overwhelming for non-MS specialists. It will cover key clinical issues that healthcare professionals seeing people with MS may encounter, and provide a framework and rationale for investigation and management of people who may have, or who have an established diagnosis of, MS.

Course Outline

  • Pathology of MS
  • Pathophysiology of MS
  • Diagnosis and differential diagnosis of MS
  • Neuroimaging in MS
  • Clinical course and prognosis in MS
  • First line disease modifying treatments
  • Multi-disciplinary team management
  • MS Nursing Services
  • Neuropsychology of MS I: Cognition and memory
  • Neuropsychology of MS II: Mood
  • DMT escalation
  • Neuromyelitis optica (aquaporin and MOG syndromes)
  • Management of Urogenital problems in MS
  • Spasticity management
  • Pain management
