Introduction

The Division of Clinical Neurology exists to bring together all Professors, Readers, Senior Lecturers and Honorary Senior Lecturers working at the Institute of Neurology. Many of the Honorary Senior Lecturers are full time NHS Consultants working at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery which is a leading centre for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. Many members of the division also belong to research departments with a specific focus, however the Division of Clinical Neurology allows them to come together to discuss matters of common interest.

Teaching and Clinical Training

All of the members of the division have a keen interest in teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as the junior medical staff at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Full details of all the Institute of Neurology’s teaching including the annual neurology short courses, membership teaching events and GP training days, is available here.

A full timetable of teaching activities organised by the Division of Clinical Neurology is updated weekly. One of the highlights of the teaching week is the ‘Gower’s ‘ clinical grand round, which occurs every Thursday afternoon in term time.

A Clinicopathological conference also occurs weekly on a Monday afternoon in term time.

The Division of Clinical Neurology works closely with the Association of British Neurologists as well as many of the neurological charities and patient support groups.
