The Institute for Materials Discovery hosts the equipment and expertise to synthesize super-thin, thin and thick-films, nanocomposites and conventional coatings.

The IMD facilities houses various systems for the deposition of thin layers of metal and non-metal materials.:

• Atomic Layer Deposition (Ultratech Simply ALD)

In addition, the centre has an array of potentiostats/galvanostats (Biologic, PalmsSens, MetroOhm) for electrodeposition and electrostatic methods while also can carry out sol-gel syntheses, solid state processing, electrospinning, screen (SonoPlot) and 3D printing.
