PANDORA's objectives are divided into seven work packages
Work Package 1
Coordination, Adminstration, Communcation, Advocacy and Networking
WP1 supports project governance and consortium decision-making. The WP ensures effective internal and external communication. It also ensures that all management aspects are carried out in an efficient and transparent manner.
Work Package 2
Capacity Building and Training
WP2 assesses the capacity development and training needs of participating states. This includes developing multilingual training materials and tools. It aims to equip personnel with the skills to diagnose and treat patients, and develop mobile lap capacity.
Work Package 3
Epidemiological, Surveillance, Clinical and Pathogenis Studies
WP3’s objective's is to improve patient management and clinical research at clinical sites. It will support national stakeholders in the development of standardised management protocols and guide interventions in the event of an epidemic. The WP will provide a platform for prompt implementation of scientifically sound and rigorous studies during epidemics.
Work Package 4
Zoonotic One Health Interface Studies
WP4 identifies and maps zoonotic hotspots. It aims to strengthen the surveillance system for zoonotic diseases. It looks to determine risk factors with the potential to cause large epidemics.
Work Package 5
Specific Clinical Trials on Existing and Sporadic Zoonotic Diseases
WP5’s objective is to implement clinical trials in partner countries. It aims to disseminate results for policy development and roll-out of interventions. It assesses key zoonoses in participant countries in order to identify key gaps and opportunities.
Work Package 6
Data Collection, Collation, Analyses, Integration, Sharing and Reporting
WP6’s objective is supports mechanisms for rapid data sharing during disease outbreaks. This includes creating real time data sharing platform and developing adaptable databases to allow rapid sharing of data and samples across sites. It also looks to develop and strengthen analytical capacity.
Work Package 7
Engaging Policy Makers, Communities and Overcoming Ethical and Regulatory Obstacles
WP 7's objective is to analyse the role of health system governance structures, organisational dynamics and networks between the human health, animal health and environment sectors(consistent with a One Health approach) in addressing challenges to build national, regional and pan-African laboratory, public health and clinical trials capacities for the rapid investigation of EID outbreaks with epidemic potential. It aims to set up robust ethical, regulatory and administrative systems in each regional hub ready to assess and approve rapid response protocols within 48 to 72 hours,
