The Next IIT external seminar is on the 1st of December - face to face at the Pears, plus virtually via Teams. 

Professor Charles Bangham from Imperial College London, is speaking on Thursday, 1st of December at midday at the IIT external seminar series in the Pears building. All are welcome, details below: 

Title: “Human T cell leukaemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1): how does it persist in vivo?”

Summary of the Speaker’s work: 

Charles Bangham qualified in medical sciences at the University of Cambridge and in clinical medicine at the University of Oxford.  He worked as a hospital physician for three years, followed by a PhD in viral immunology at the National Institute for Medical Research and the University of Oxford.  In 1995 he was appointed to the Chair of Immunology in Imperial College. In 2019 he founded the Institute of Infection in Imperial College.  His research is on the immunology and virology of persistent viral infections, especially HTLV-1.  Charles was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2019.
