Professor Sir Robin Jacob presides over the patent judges' panel at the Institut de Stanislas de Boufflers Patent Conference, Paris.

Professor Sir Robin Jacob, Sir Hugh Laddie Professor of Intellectual Property Law at UCL Faculty of Laws and Director of the UCL Institute of Brand and Innovation Law (IBIL) presided over the patent judges' panel at the Institut de Stanislas de Boufflers Patent Conference, held on 30 March 2023 at the Assemblée Nationale, Paris.

The panel, comprising Dr Klaus Grabinski (Judge the Germany's Bundesgerichtshof and President of the Court of Appeal of the Unified Patent Court), Mélanie Bessaud (Conseillère référendaire à la Cour de cassation, judge at the Court of First Instance of the Unified Patent Court, Central Division - Munich), Nathalie Sabotier (President of the 3rd Chamber of the Tribunal judiciaire de Paris) and Anne-Catherine Chiariny (Associate Professor, University of Montpellier) debated the topic: ‘Competition between the Unified Patent Court and national jurisdictions.’

Institut Stanislas de Boufflers is a leading innovation think tank named after the French author and statesman. The Institute seeks to reflect on questions raised by the protection of intellectual property rights, and to provide proposals for public authorities, economic and political actors, with a view to promoting innovation in a manner which best benefits the economy and society.
