Dr Alina Trapova, Lecturer at UCL Laws and Co-director of the Institute of Brand and Innovation Law (IBIL) was invited to speak at the Digital Law Center, University of Geneva on 7 March, on the topic of ‘Gaming and AI’.

Dr Trapova’s presentation formed part of the AI and Policy Talks series, established in 2020, to provide a forum for interdisciplinary discussions on governance issues arising from artificial intelligence. During each AITPT session, a distinguished speaker is invited to present on some aspect of AI governance, which is then followed by comments made by two expert discussants, and by a general informal discussion with the participants.

Dr Trapova’s talk covered issues including generative AI and copyright law in the context of in-game creativity. Her paper was then discussed by gaming industry experts: Stacey Chuvaieva, an entertainment lawyer at US law firm, Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP (formerly Legal Counsel, Wargaming Group Limited) and Philippe Sundfeld, Senior Legal Manager and Data Protection Officer at Wildlife Studios, one of the world’s largest mobile gaming companies.
