Leadership Professional Development Programmes

Professional Development programmes for UCL staff who wish to develop their Leadership and Management capabilities and gain an accredited qualification.

As part of our commitment to support the professional development of our staff and to align our workforce with future UCL business needs, we offer two Leadership and Management Professional Development Programmes for managers at grade 7 upwards, to complement our existing leadership offer.

What is it?

Starting in January 2024, these programmes will be delivered by our training provider Corndel and funded through the UCL Apprenticeship Levy. They provide structured training, allowing you to enhance your career prospects through the development of valuable skills and earn a nationally recognised qualification as well as CMI Chartered Manager or Foundation Chartered Management Status.

Who is it for?

These programmes are designed for those who work as managers or senior leaders across UCL who wish to deepen their leadership expertise, apply new knowledge skills and behaviours within their current role and contribute to the organisation’s success.

These programmes are occupationally related, meaning that you will need to be in a role that provides sufficient scope to be able to apply your learning.

More information about the programmes and eligibility is available on the UCL Leadership and Management Professional Development Programmes Learner Hub.

How do I apply?

You will need to discuss your application with your line manager who will need to get agreement from the Head of Department or Division.

Once you have the support of your line manager you should complete the Internal Application Form.

When you submit your application form the Line Manager's Approval will be requested from your line manager. Your application cannot be considered without this.

The internal application will be reviewed to ensure that you meet the UCL eligibility and will be assessed against the criteria. Successful applicants will be invited to register for the programme with Corndel who will need to complete eligibility checks from the funding body. Your place will not be confirmed until these checks are complete.

Please see the UCL Leadership and Management Professional Development Programmes Learner Hub for more information on the stages of application and onboarding and timelines.

Applications are now closed. We will be assessing this pilot and may launch further cohorts from Summer 2025. Please check back for updates.
