HR Support Early Career Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship that provides an opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills to prepare you for a career within HR.

What is it?

HR Administrators and Officers provide support to managers and employees, handling day to day queries and providing advice in areas on all aspects of staff employment journey from recruitment through to retirement.

HR colleagues can be based in central teams such as HR Business Partnering, Recruitment, Policy, Wellbeing, Organisational Development or can work within a department, division or a faculty supporting the staff in that area.

We offer the HR Support Level 3 Apprenticeship over 18 months which provides the grounding for a career in UCL HR. On successful completion, you will achieve your Foundation Certificate in People Practice Level 3. You may be eligible to apply for Associate membership of the CIPD on successful completion.

This apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with HTP Training. Learning will be undertaken online and reviews and support will be provided by a coach through in person sessions.

Who is it for?

These programmes are suitable for School or College Leavers who have a keen interest in a career in HR. This also may be suitable for career changers or graduates who wish to pursue an HR career.

As this is funded through the Apprenticeship Levy there are specific eligibility criteria that applicants should meet.

We expect all applicants to have a minimum of GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/ Level 4 or above.

You will be fully supported throughout your apprenticeship by your line manager, a mentor, the HR Apprenticeship team and a coach from our training provider.

UCL has an active HR Community of Practice which provides training, support and network opportunities to HR staff across the organisation.

We hope that this programme will prepare you for a long-term career within HR at UCL. You will be supported to make applications for permanent roles towards the end of your apprenticeship.

Permanent HR staff have the opportunity to undertake HR Apprenticeships at Level 5 to achieve their CIPD qualifications.

How do I apply?

We work closely with our partners at LB Camden to provide opportunities for local residents or school/ college leavers from Camden and will prioritise these applications.

All vacancies are advertised on our job website. Applications will be accepted through the Find an Apprenticeship website and are managed on our behalf by our training provider. Shortlisted applicants are invited to attend an in-person interview.
