The first objective of the GES set out to recruit excellent and diverse UK and international students and enhance the global nature of our students' experience

UCL has worked hard to continue recruiting a diverse student body, as well as to deliver the kind of global experience that our students want by increasing opportunities for student mobility.

Since the launch of the strategy in 2015, the number of students undertaking an international opportunity has doubled. 33 percent of UCL undergraduates experience time abroad as part of their degree programme in 2018/19, meaning UCL surpassed its student mobility target one year early.

We are proud to have the highest number of international students in the Russell Group and be third in the Russell Group for undergraduate students experiencing international opportunities.

In addition, UCL celebrated graduating its first cohort of jointly-delivered MBA students at Peking University in 2019 and continues to deliver a dual degree in Laws with Hong Kong University.

UCL Biochemistry student Tanja, who spent summer 2019 participating in the Study China Programme at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, said of her experience: “The Study China Programme was a tremendously valuable and enjoyable experience. I have made many new British and Chinese friends, learnt an entirely new language and visited more sights and places than I could count... These are the kinds of experiences that will open your eyes to new perspectives and you will remember for a lifetime.”
