20 July 2021

This training is mandatory for certain staff and students, and strongly encouraged for others, as detailed below.

The two online training modules are:

Fully accessible versions of the training are available in audio and Word format. These are for anyone who might find it difficult to use the online interactive version.

Disclosing and managing conflicts of interest training

UCL's online disclosure-of-conflicts training will help you understand how to recognise, disclose and manage conflicts of interest. It clarifies how to deal with any conflicts that may arise in relation to your role at UCL.

All staff and doctoral students must complete this mandatory training before 31 July 2021.

The training should take approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete (depending on how many units you need to do, based on your role). It’s accessed through the UCL MyLearning portal.

The training supports UCL’s Disclosure of Conflict and Declaration of Interest Policy, which you also should refer to.

Understanding and protecting intellectual property (IP) training

UCL's online IP training is designed to help you understand how IP is owned, managed and used at UCL, and how this applies to your role.

All staff and students are encouraged to complete the training. However, it’s mandatory for the following staff and students and must be completed before 31 July 2021:

  • Academics, research associates and doctoral students
  • Professional services research support staff (such as all those in roles creating and handling research outputs, supporting research proposals and collaborations)
  • Innovation and enterprise support staff (such as business managers, partnership managers)
  • All staff at grade 10 and above
  • Staff involved in procuring specialist services

The training should take approximately 20 to 40 minutes to complete (depending on how many units you need to do, based on your role). It’s accessed through the UCL MyLearning portal.

It supports UCL’s Intellectual Property Policy, which you should also refer to.
