The Economics Teaching and Learning Team were recognised with no less than three separate nominations for this award, highlighting their brilliant contribution during a year with unique challenges.

“Despite the impact of the pandemic on teaching delivery and more than double their usual intake of UG students putting extreme pressure on departmental resources, the Economics Teaching and Learning Team has been outstanding across the board. They have shown a level of efficiency and dedication that was both inspirational and instrumental in ensuring the department's success. They achieve the perfect mix of dedication to its mission and understanding of their departmental "culture", and care deeply not only about the students but also about supporting academics in the best way they can.

“Emer has been a calming force for effective change in her first year in the way she has managed the challenges of COVID-19, supported many new members of the team, and dealt with the largest cohort ever in the economics undergraduate programmes. From the outset she established herself as a responsible leader – always keen to discuss ideas and recognise the value of learning from others. She encourages her team to take responsibility for their roles while also protecting them from work pressures. Her impact on the organisation and the lives of many staff has been transformative.
