Registration/Enrolment: The Essential Steps
Online registration is your initial step, but in-person enrolment is also required. Remember, you'll need to re-register at the beginning of each academic year to maintain your enrolment status.
Picking up your UCL ID Card
New students and those requiring a replacement ID card must book an appointment through our ID booking card system. Ensure you've received a confirmation email regarding your enrolment before scheduling your appointment. Your UCL ID card grants you access to campus buildings, UCL spaces, and university libraries.

With this in place, you can access vital services, including:
Portico
Portico is a crucial platform for various services. Ensure that you have student access after completing pre-enrolment. Your department and central UCL teams will send information to your UCL email account.
Please ensure that this has been set up correctly and you have access to your email. Once setup, check your UCL email on a regular basis for important information.
Moodle
Moodle is UCL’s virtual learning environment and hosts important information on your programme and department.
Please ensure that your Moodle page is set up correctly.
Research Log
The Research Log is UCL’s online project management and development tool specifically designed for our research students. Keeping a Log is a mandatory part of all research degrees at UCL (MPhil/PhD, EngD, DPro (Professional Doctorates) programmes, MD(Res) and MRes). Check your access using your UCL ID and password.
If you have any problems with any of the above, please contact IT services.
