Something isn't quite right about eBooks, right? Perhaps we've lost something in digital translation. Looking historically at an imagined future, my project is charting a path toward a more dynamic eReader environment by deconstructing a point in time (1850 to 1880) when photographers, authors, and publishers forged an uneasy partnership. The talk is all about what I have learned so far on my research journey. It's definitely a work in progress.
Paul Conway is Associate Professor, University of Michigan School of Information and Visiting Senior Research Fellow at Kings College, University of London.
