Skutsch Family Bursary

Usually, two awards will be made and successful individual applicants will receive £6,000 each. The bursary can be put either towards tuition fees or general living costs.  

The bursaries will be awarded based on academic merit, with financial needs taken into consideration. We consider ‘academic merit’ here in terms of attainment (i.e. degree result), but also in the broader sense to include engagement with activities which have enhanced the student experience (e.g. involvement in student societies), and may also include commitment to outreach and inclusive practice, as demonstrated during your undergraduate study. Priority will be given to UCL Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) final year undergraduates or graduates.

Please note this process will be updated for 2022 entry when we hope to run the bursary again. 

Send the following to cege-pg-admissions@ucl.ac.uk, stating ‘John Skutsch Bursary application’ in the subject line: 

  • A two-page maximum CV;
  • Proof of your unconditional offer of study (full time) for a UCL Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) postgraduate taught programme; 
  • Your academic transcript; 
  • A 500-word supporting statement demonstrating your academic merit (as described above);
  • A completed

You must notify cege-pg-admissions@ucl.ac.uk if you are also in receipt of any other bursaries, scholarships or awards for your postgraduate study. If you receive another bursary or award after you submit your application for the Skutsch Family Bursary, you must still email cege-pg-admissions@ucl.ac.uk with notification of this new award. 

Please note, failure to meet the eligibility criteria, or to submit all of the required documents, will render your application ineligible. You are able to apply for The Skutsch Family Bursary only once.
