Research summary

Kamal's current research focuses on risk management and resilience in transport and in particular maritime systems and its dependent supply chain. His research interests include accessibility planning and measurement, road safety, transport/social impact assessments, decision support tools for transport policy and risk analysis, participatory methods, simulation modelling and GIS-T.

Kamal is a Lecturer in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering at UCL. He joined UCL in 2006 as a Research Fellow and worked on a number of projects funded by EPSRC, ESRC and NERC. His collaborations include Department for Transport, Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, ABP Ports, Ports of Dover & London, British Library and UK Council Authorities.Before joining UCL, Kamal worked as a Research Engineer in the Traffic Engineering Laboratory at the National University of Singapore.
