Research summary
My current research mainly focuses on the energy integration, hybrid fuelling, novel control technologies and optimisation approaches that help to facilitate the energy transition of infrastructure systems (e.g. heating/cooling, the built environment, and national grids) and the foundation industries (including metal, glass, ceramics, paper, cement, and bulk chemicals sectors), making them low carbon resilient and helping the UK achieve its ambitious Net Zero targets. My methods are mostly computational including computational fluid dynamics, process modelling, agent-based modelling, but also have expertise in developing multi-scale and trans-dimensional first-principles models. My research interests include but not limited to:
- Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT);
- Hydrogen infrastructure deployment;
- Future energy scenarios in the built environment;
- Renewable/distributed energy resources toward low carbon scenarios;
- Industrial energy efficiency and biomass, hydrogen, and oxygen utilisation;
- Multi-energy complementary systems toward demand side resilience;
- Fundamental research on thermal radiation and microwave radiation;
- Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).
Teaching summary
I am the module leader of two postgraduate modules: Systems, Society and Sustainability (CEGE0020), Building Energy Efficiency (CEGE0119), and also involved in project supervision at undergraduate, MSc and PhD level.
