CEGE student awarded Engineering Leaders Scholarship

12 April 2022

MEng Civil Engineering student, Ania Musia, has been awarded the Engineering Leaders Scholarship, by the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Ania Musial

Our 2nd Year MEng Civil Engineering student Ania Musial is among a small pool of undergraduate students to receive the Engineering Leaders Scholarship (ELS) award this year. The ELS competition is run by the Royal Academy of Engineering to provide financial and networking opportunities for undergraduate students who show potential to become leaders in the engineering field. Every year they receive in excess of 1000 applications and only around 40 are selected to receive the award.

Ania said: “I am truly grateful to be one of the people awarded this year and for my aspirations to be recognized by the scholarship board. I study civil engineering as it is a discipline in which I have the potential to use my skills to make a positive impact on individuals, whole communities, and even on a global scale. Receiving the scholarship has given me a lot of confidence and motivation to promote ethical practices in civil engineering and associate my future only with projects I will be proud of”.

Ania will use the financial support and networking opportunities to research sustainability in construction and to gain soft skills essential to advocate good practices in civil engineering. The scholarship will give her the opportunity to attend topical events and interact directly with current industry leaders.

Prof. D’Ayala, who supported Ania’s application, said: “This is a great achievement for Ania, personally, and for CEGE, as it reflects not just the quality of our students and our teaching, but also the ethos that underpins the learning experience in Civil Engineering at UCL. Ania will be a great ambassador for us and we look forward to supporting students to this award year on year.”
